Dr. Tracy Oates is an accomplished educational leader with more than 16 years of progressive experience dedicated to transforming teaching and learning through visionary leadership, instructional excellence, and a steadfast commitment to student success. Currently serving as Assistant Principal at Maya Angelou French Immersion in Prince George's County Public Schools, she leads schoolwide initiatives that strengthen instructional practice, improve student achievement, cultivate educator effectiveness, and foster a culture where every student is empowered to thrive.
Throughout her career, Dr. Oates has served in a variety of instructional and leadership roles, including classroom teacher, Reading Instructional Lead Teacher, Professional Development Lead Teacher, curriculum writer, mentor, and administrator. These experiences have equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of school improvement, curriculum development, data-informed decision-making, instructional coaching, and organizational leadership. She has successfully led professional learning communities, developed teacher capacity through coaching and feedback, implemented schoolwide improvement initiatives, and partnered with families and community stakeholders to create equitable learning opportunities for all students.
As an educational leader, Dr. Oates believes that the success of a school begins with a shared vision, strong relationships, and a culture of continuous growth. She is passionate about developing leadership at every level by empowering teachers, inspiring students, and building collaborative teams committed to excellence. Her leadership philosophy centers on creating inclusive, student-centered environments where innovation is encouraged, high expectations are embraced, and every learner is equipped to achieve academic and personal success.
Dr. Oates earned a Bachelor of Science from St. John's University in New York, a Master of Science in Education from Metropolitan College of New York, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. Her doctoral research focused on strengthening family engagement as a catalyst for improving student achievement, reflecting her belief that meaningful partnerships between schools, families, and communities are essential to lasting educational success. She aspires to build high-performing schools where students are inspired to excel, educators are empowered to lead, families are valued as partners, and every decision is guided by the belief that all children deserve access to exceptional educational opportunities.
