How PGCPS is Growing the Next Generation of Maryland Teachers
At Prince George’s County Public Schools, our "Grow-Your-Own" strategy is paying off! Through the Teacher Academy of Maryland, our students are gaining college credits, earning certifications, and using cutting-edge AI simulation technology to prepare for their own classrooms.
Many of our TAM graduates are returning to teach in the very same communities where they grew up. When we nurture these relationships early, we create a stronger, more dedicated workforce for our schools.
At PGCPS, the impact is clear:
• 75% of TAM students earned paraprofessional certification over the past three years
• Program applications are up
• Expansion to a fourth high school is underway
