Overview
The programs of study in this career cluster include Early Childhood Education-Child Development Associate (Preschool) and the Teacher Academy of Maryland. Each program includes opportunities for students to earn industry certifications and/or licensure with an added value of articulated college credits. Students participating in these programs are actively engaged in real-world experiences through internships and mentoring opportunities. These experiences allow students to apply classroom instruction in meaningful ways giving them a head start to viable careers.
Requirements to Enroll and Complete Program: Students must be entering the 9th grade, complete the CTE application and be accepted into the program of study.

Early Childhood Education-Child Development Associate (Preschool)
(4-year pathway)
The program of study prepares students for further education and careers in early childhood education and care or the opportunity to enter the child- care workforce ready to assume a lead teacher position in a preschool program. Students accepted into this program will be required to earn 480 hours as a teacher in a licensed preschool program, complete the Child Development Associate Portfolio and to sit for the Child Development Associate exam.

The program of study prepares students for further education and careers in elementary and secondary education. Students accepted into this program will be required to complete the Teacher Academy of Maryland Portfolio and to sit for the ParaPro exam. Students can request verification of Teacher Academy of Maryland credits to submit for college credits and scholarship opportunities.
