At Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS), our mission is clear: “Excellence everywhere. Every classroom. Every child. Every day.”

PGCPS is searching for principals who are more than administrators. We are looking for leaders who understand that true impact is measured by student success. Our ideal candidates are those who:

A System of Support: You Never Lead Alone

At PGCPS, we don't just hire leaders; we cultivate them. The role of the principal is as challenging as it is rewarding. That is why we are committed to building the capacity of prospective principal candidates as executive leaders, providing world-class professional support, and creating the conditions necessary for every educator in our buildings to succeed.

The strength of our system lies in our collective commitment to talent.

"Our success does not happen by chance. It happens by design," said Dr. Shawn Joseph, Interim Superintendent. “We win when a child learns to read with confidence. We win when a teacher refines their craft. We win when a system ensures that opportunity is not determined by chance, but by our collective commitment. We win when we hire and cultivate strong principal talent that can build a culture of excellence within their schools."

Welcome to the Team: New Principal Hire Spotlight!

The impact of this commitment is already being felt across the district. PGCPS is thrilled to spotlight our newest principal hire, Isela Vidals, whose appointment was officially approved by the Board of Education on Thursday, March 26.

Isela joins us as a collaborative and reflective leader who prioritizes instructional growth and student achievement. Her approach is rooted in supporting teachers through coaching and data-driven decision-making, while actively engaging families to build strong community partnerships.

“I look forward to building strong relationships within the school community and creating a positive culture where every student can thrive, while supporting teachers and ensuring success for all,” said Vidals.
