Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year at Sonia Sotomayor Middle School at Adelphi!

Dear Bobcat Family,

As we prepare to embark on another exciting school year 2024-2025, I extend a warm welcome to each member of our Sonia Sotomayor Middle School community. Your positive energy and unwavering commitment to educational excellence are deeply appreciated, and I eagerly anticipate working together to support our scholars and community.

With the first day of school quickly approaching, I share in the excitement and anticipation felt by our students and parents. This year, we embrace the theme of "Nurturing Excellence through Compliance, Capacity, Culture, and Instruction" as we continue to prioritize teaching and learning.

Compliance: At the core of our values is a steadfast commitment to academic standards and ethical principles. We emphasize integrity and responsibility in all aspects of learning and behavior, creating a foundation of trust and respect within our school community.

Capacity: Our aim is to cultivate and expand our students' capacity for knowledge, critical thinking, and creativity. Through personalized learning experiences and supportive environments, we empower students to reach their full potential and become confident, lifelong learners.

Culture: We celebrate the richness of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences within our student body and staff. This inclusive culture fosters empathy, understanding, and global awareness among our learners.

Instruction: We are dedicated to providing high-quality teaching that engages and inspires. Our educators are committed to innovation, utilizing research-based practices to meet the needs of every learner. Through dynamic instruction, we ignite curiosity and passion for learning in our students.

In mathematics education, we will place a special focus on supporting our students in special education and our multilingual learners. Our commitment to inclusive and accessible education is central to our mission, and I am confident that our collective efforts will create a dynamic and empowering learning environment.

Together, with Bobcat Pride, let's make this school year a resounding success. I look forward to the journey ahead and to celebrating our achievements as a community.

With appreciation and excitement,
