Checklist: 5 Tips for Summer Wellness

As the temperatures rise, prioritizing mental and physical health and wellness remains critical! Check out what’s available for students and families over summer break.

1. Hazel Health Teletherapy

School's out, but mental health support is still available! Students can access free teletherapy services and virtual medical care on any smartphone, tablet or computer over the summer. Schedule your counseling sessions Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Families must opt-in before requesting service.

2. Prosper Self-Care App

The Prosper Self-Care App is a free and powerful tool for tracking mood, engaging in therapeutic activities, and establishing wellness habits. Ready to get started? Download Prosper from the Apple Store or Google Play by searching for "Prosper Self Care" or here: to begin your journey to better mental wellness. 

3. Community Resources

The Prince George’s County Local Behavioral Health Authority and iMind Behavioral Health offers crisis support for all residents of Prince George’s County.

PGCPS school-based mental health professionals are also available for consultation at In urgent situations, the 24/7 hotline support at 988 provides immediate help free of charge. 

4. Wellness Wednesday Podcast

5. Get a Head Start on Immunizations

Ensure your child’s immunizations are up to date for the new school year! Prince George’s County Health Department is offering immunizations Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. in Cheverly and Laurel for children who are uninsured, underinsured, or covered by Medicaid. 

The Health Department is also offering evening back-to-school clinics from Monday, July 8 through Thursday, August 22 with some Saturday dates available.
