Technology Resources

Google Drawings | Typing Practice | Coding on Scratch

Currently, there are no tech classes for students, but there's ALWAYS tech tools to learn while having fun! Some resources are listed below with the grade level of students who can benefit from reviewing the information with their parent or guardian.

Google Drawings

Kindergarten - 5th Grade

Below is a video to get you started with Google Drawings. You can go to your Google Drive at any time, click the + button, and choose Google Drawings to get your own drawing started. You can also click the Google Draw Tutorial button below to view GIFS (which are kind of like 'repeating videos') to help you with your skills.

Typing Practice

For 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders (1st graders with parent help)

Students can work on 10-finger typing at typing.com. Click "Log in with Google" for full access. If you are a first grader and a parent can help you or a 2nd grader who remembers typing practice from last year, you can get started with your OWN typing.com account, too. See how many lessons you can complete.

Coding Practice on Scratch

For 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders

Coding is not only fun, but helps you be creative while learning all of the details that are happening all the time on your digital devices. Scratch is a program that we've used and learned about these past years, and you can continue to improve your skills and make better and better games, drawings that move, stories, and more!
For all students at Whitehall, check the Tech Google Classroom for specific directions as to how to log in to your Scratch account so that all of your cool coding will be saved!

Care and Use of Technology

Whitehall students will utilize technology regularly to enhance their instruction. While students are on Prince George’s County Public Schools devices or accounts, they are subject to the Prince George’s County Schools Acceptable Use Policy. Examples of violations of Prince George’s County Public Schools Acceptable Use Policy include, but are not limited to:

  • Illegal activity.
  • “Chat rooms” or “chat lines”.
  • Internet sites that promote activities or opinions inappropriate to a school setting (as determined by a staff member).
  • Use of equipment for commercial purposes.
  • Must not interfere with others’ work or use another’s account
  • Misrepresenting one’s own identity
  • Disclosing one’s identity on the Internet.

If students violate the Acceptable Use Policy, they will be subject to consequences consistent with the Student Code of Conduct. During the first week of school, teachers will share information about their expectations for technology in their classes. For more information, please see the PGCPS Student Device Usage Agreement.

All students are responsible for the care of their PGCPS issued device (iPad/Chromebook) during the school day and at home. If a student notices any damage to their PGCPS device, they should immediately report it to their teacher. The teacher will then consult with the appropriate person to determine if a fee needs to be assessed for the damages. A The staff appreciates parents' assistance in seeing that student devices are cared for properly.
