PBIS

What does PBIS stand for?

PBIS is short for Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports. PBIS is used interchangeably with SWPBS, which is short for School Wide Positive Behavior Supports.

What is PBIS?

PBIS is a framework or approach for assisting school personnel in adopting and organizing evidence-based behavioral interventions into an integrated continuum that enhances academic and social behavior outcomes for all students. PBIS IS NOT a packaged curriculum, scripted intervention, or manualized strategy. PBIS IS a prevention-oriented way for school personnel to:

  • organize evidence-based practices
  • improve their implementation of those practices
  • maximize academic and social behavior outcomes for students. PBIS supports the success of ALL students.

How will student behaviors be monitored at RHES?

RHES teachers will monitor student behaviors through the use of a classroom PAW Chart.

How will student behaviors be communicated with parents?

Teachers will communicate minor classroom incidents to parents through the minor incident behavior form.

Who will provide Paw Tickets to students?

All RHES staff members are encouraged to reward classes  showcasing exceptional behaviors, with Paw Tickets. Classrooms will be based on the number of paw tickets earned.

What is the process for classes earning PAW Bucks?

Classes will earn paw bucks for demonstrating exceptional Paw behavior. Classrooms can also earn paw tickets during specials and at lunch if the class demonstrates the appropriate behavioral expectation.  Teachers must sign the Paw ticket and check the expectation that students demonstrated. PAW tickets must be displayed in the classroom.

PAWS stands for:

P Pride in yourself
A Always prepared
W Wise Choices
S Soar to Success

How often will schoolwide incentives be provided?

Schoolwide Incentives will be provided monthly. This first incentive will happen in October.  We will have a kick off to PBIS with parents and students.
