Our STEM club is dedicated to empowering K-2 students to be independent problem-solvers. Students will work with different projects on science, technology, engineering, and math content which will require them to be constructive, creative, and think strategically. Students will build their knowledge and application of STEM content and processes. They will also work as teams and develop their ability to collaborate with and learn from other students and from STEM professionals.Students will build their interest in academic success and higher education.Last, this club will foster their interest in additional STEM learning opportunities and careers.
Our MESA club work on state-level challenges and the national challenge as posed by MESA USA. Can you imagine students creating a mobile app to help keep people healthy? Or using low-cost technology and human-centered design to solve issues related to inequity? Or prototyping a device to monitor respiration in infants? These are just a few examples of the various kinds of challenges Maryland MESA students get to tackle when participating in this competitive
and exciting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)-based program, which offers students in grades 3–12 hands-on fun in a structured team environment.Through participation in MESA, students have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, improve their academic achievement, and gain greater confidence in their ability to succeed in STEM courses and careers.
Chinese Dragon after school is a study group for students from Gr. 4-6, which provides assistance with Chinese homework assignments and activities to enrich students’ Chinese language skills. Students will learn Chinese from storytelling and song-singing. Students will have a chance to know more interesting traditional idiom stories(成语故事) and Chinese mythology(中国神话). They will develop an understanding, respect, and appreciation for other cultures, and can promote a positive attitude to people from different countries.
Chinese Bee after school is a study group for students from K-2, which provides assistance with Chinese homework assignments and activities to enrich students’ Chinese language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students will learn and practice Chinese through engaging and fun language and culture activities.
The Green Team program is an update of the Litter Free Schools program. By joining the Green Team, our school will support widespread litter reduction, recycling, beautification, and energy conservation initiatives. We pay efforts to make a clean and orderly school environment, conducive to learning and academic achievement.
