Advanced Placement Registration

Are you motivated & dedicated to schoolwork? Are you committed to homework, extra readings, and research? Are you responsible? Are you able to multitask, to prioritize activities, and meet deadlines? Are you prepared and organized?

Do you have critical analysis and thinking skills? Are you beyond proficient in reading and writing?

If so, Advanced Placement Courses are just for you! Advanced Placement courses are college-level courses that you can receive college credit for in high school!

Pick up your AP Course Application from the Guidance Office from Jan 10 -Feb 9, 2024, for the following courses offered here at DHS:

Applications are in the Guidance Office file folder alphabetically by course
Read and sign form, get parent signature.
Writing sample submission Google Form (Check PGCPS email).
Signed application to corresponding course teacher for recommendation (current class).

You will NOT get your application back and DO NOT need to see a Counselor! Teachers are to return paperwork to Ms. Reed.

AP Academic Showcase

Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) aims to provide all students with an opportunity to engage in rigorous instruction through Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Taking AP courses allows students to engage in classes that are taught on a college level and designed to prepare them for the rigors of college work.

To support this goal, the staff at DuVal High School would like to invite you and your students to the upcoming Advanced Placement Academic Showcase scheduled for February 6, 2024. During the showcase, parents and students will have the opportunity to learn more about the Advanced Placement program, hear from students, and meet with teachers, guidance staff, and administrators. The AP Academic Showcase will allow families to meet teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators to receive in-depth information about the various courses available at DuVal High School. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear directly from the teachers about their specific courses, expectations, and requirements.

At DuVal High School we are proud of the opportunities we give our students to enroll in AP courses and it is our pleasure to share this information with our community so current and future students can make informed decisions about their academic futures.
