August 4, 2024

Dear Benjamin Stoddert Middle School Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We are thrilled to embark on this exciting journey with you and our scholars. Our partnership is key to unlocking their highest potential, and together, we can achieve incredible things. We understand that our students thrive with support from both home and school, and we are wholeheartedly committed to working with you to ensure their success.

As we begin the year, we invite you to help guide and support your child's learning by:

  1. Ensuring they attend school daily, arrive on time, and are ready to learn.
  2. Encourage them to use their notebook and agendas to keep track of and complete all assignments.
  3. Promoting daily reading to nurture a love for books and enhance their literacy skills.

This year promises to be outstanding as we continue to offer rigorous, relevant academic experiences while fostering relationships and real-world connections. My goal as your Principal is to make sure everyone—teachers, students, and parents—feels excited and energized about being here. A positive and enthusiastic attitude helps us face the challenges of academic excellence with a nurturing and engaging spirit. We are dedicated to providing your child with the best educational experience possible.

We warmly invite you to join our Parent Advisory Council. Your participation and contributions are invaluable and will greatly enrich our school community. Visit our school website to stay informed about our programs and expectations. Remember that students should be in uniform daily, wearing their grade-level-colored shirts and jackets (no hoodies), khaki bottoms, and closed-toe shoes (no slides or slippers).

Here are the uniform details:

- 6th Grade: Heather Gray Polo Shirts or solid color heather gray t-shirt

- 7th Grade: Navy Blue Polo Shirts or solid color navy blue t-shirt

- 8th Grade: Red Polo Shirts or solid color red t-shirt

Cell phones should remain off and out of sight during the school day unless explicitly permitted by a teacher for instructional purposes. Please remind your child that avoiding interruptions to the learning process is essential.

Mark your calendars for these important dates:

- August 23rd: New Student Orientation (Check pgcps.org for updated bus routes)

- August 26th: First Day of School (8:30 am - 3:10 pm; School doors open at 8:00 am)

- September 17th: Back to School Night (6:00-7:30 pm)

The first-class Benjamin Stoddert Middle School staff and I feel honored to be part of this vibrant community. Your support means the world to us, and we look forward to a year of growth and success with you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out via phone or email with any questions or concerns you might have throughout the year.

Respectfully,

Tisa Morgan, Principal
