Dear Apple Grove Elementary School Community,
I hope this message finds you well and you are enjoying your summer break! My name is Samecia-Muriel Broussard, and I am delighted and honored to introduce myself as the new Principal of Apple Grove Elementary. Leading a school in my county of rearing is a tremendous privilege, and I am deeply humbled to work with a talented, dedicated, and compassionate community such as Apple Grove.
Allow me to share a bit about myself: I grew up in Prince George’s County and am a proud graduate of Suitland High School, Texas A&M University, and Johns Hopkins University. I am an avid reader and enjoy diving into suspenseful or realistic fiction novels. When I am not immersed in a book, you might find me tap dancing, swimming, spending quality time with friends and family, or teaching with the youth ministry at First Baptist of Highland Park. I am also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Iota Gamma Omega Chapter. My husband, Everett, and I are blessed with three dynamic children—ZoraNelle, EdynBrooke, and Graeson.
With over 20 years of experience in elementary, pre-kindergarten to eight, and middle schools in Prince George’s County and the District of Columbia Public Schools, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to fostering environments where students and staff can be successful. Before coming to Apple Grove, I most recently served as the principal of G. James Gholson Middle School, where I had the privilege of working with a diverse and dynamic community of students and staff. My journey in education has been deeply rewarding, and I am passionate about creating a supportive and nurturing environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
At the heart of my educational philosophy is the belief that every child deserves a high-quality education in an environment where they are challenged academically and loved unconditionally. I envision Apple Grove as a place where students are excited to learn and adults partner in support of our children’s success. My daily goal is to ensure that every member of our school community feels safe, seen, and supported in their journey toward success.
As we embark on this new chapter together, I would love to hear from you and learn more about your insights and aspirations for your child and our school. Your unique perspectives and contributions are invaluable to the success of our children, and I am committed to collaborating with you to ensure an inclusive atmosphere where everyone's voice is heard and valued. Please join me on Wednesday, August 14 from 6:00-7:00, for Popsicles with the Principal. This will be a time for us to begin getting to know each other and will allow me to connect with students, staff members, parents, and Apple Grove Elementary community members. Further information is forthcoming and will be shared via the School website, Class Dojo, and School Messenger.
I am genuinely excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and the amazing things we will accomplish together. Thank you for entrusting your children to me and welcoming me into the Apple Grove family. If you have any immediate questions or would like to reach out before Popsicles with the Principal, please email me at Samecia.Broussard@pgcps.org.
I look forward to partnering with you as we embark on this journey of school year 2025 and beyond! Together, we will continue the Bulldog tradition of a nurturing and enriching environment for our children at Apple Grove Elementary School.
In peace and partnership,
Samecia-Muriel Broussard
Principal, Apple Grove Elementary School
