School Information

School Visitors

We welcome and encourage parents/guardians to visit the school and their child's classroom.  Any individual visiting the school for any reason must first report to the school's main office and receive a visitor's pass.  If it should be necessary to set up a conference, please call or write a note to the classroom teacher.  It is extremely important that classroom activities are not interrupted.

Attendance

All children are expected to be in attendance each day unless they are ill or have one of the excused reasons as listed in the Student Code of Conduct. Please remember that a written note explaining the absence is required after a student has been absent or the absence will be considered unexcused.  We are asking a parent/guardian to call the school each day that a student is absent.

Late Arrivals

Children who arrive after 8:30 a.m. are tardy.  We realize that there will be instances when your child must be tardy, but please try to avoid this whenever possible as it interferes with the student's academic program.

Parents/Guardians of students who are continually tardy will be asked to provide proof of residence.  Tardiness interrupts the instructional time.  Thank you in advance for your full cooperation.

Early Dismissal

We encourage you to try to schedule your child's doctor and dental appointments after school hours as our instructional day does not conclude until 2:40 p.m..  If this is not possible, you must send a note to your child’s teacher on the day of the appointment and then come to the main office to sign your child out.  For your child's safety, the teacher will not release a child until the office calls for the child.  We will ask you to fill out a form at the beginning of the year to designate three individuals to whom your child can be released.  We will also ask for their ID.  For the safety of your child, if someone else is picking up your child, please send a note, as we can not verify the identity of persons calling on the telephone.  Students for early dismissal will not be called out of classrooms after 2:15 p.m.

Emergency School Closings

If the decision is made to close school due to inclement weather, the local television and radio stations will broadcast the information.  You may also access the Prince George's County Public School's Website to obtain emergency school closing or early school dismissal information.
