The vision of the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Committee of the Department of Psychological Services is to foster an inclusive and supportive culture and climate that meets the social-emotional needs of all Prince George’s County Public Schools’ (PGCPS) students, faculty and staff.
The mission of The Committee is to promote social-emotional competence in the students (pre-k to grade 12), and faculty and staff (i.e., paraprofessionals, bus drivers, food service workers) of PGCPS via a two-pronged approach:
(1) by advocating for implementation of a PGCPS district-wide Tier 1 SEL program designed to support the social-emotional needs of students (pre-kindergarten to grade 12), parents, faculty and staff in effort to facilitate safe, nurturing, and supportive learning environments; and,
(2) by developing a Department of Psychological Services’ integrated approach to providing SEL support to students, parents, faculty and staff across a variety of learning environments (i.e. remote, traditional, and blended) for the 2020-2021 school year.
