Assistant Principal Induction Program supports first year Assistant Principals.

Eligibility

Mandatory attendance in program upon acceptance of Assistant Principal position in Prince George’s County Public Schools

Program Goals

To enhance assistant principal performance and their preparation for principalship; to assess and enhance leadership capacity; to capitalize on the expertise of proven leaders to develop aspiring principals; to provide learning experiences through a peer based, cohesive group of professionals; and to develop leadership through a variety of yearlong experience-research based and contextual.

Program Framework

The APIP is a year long program where first year assistant principals/administrators will engage in varied experiences that will consist of the following:

  • A monthly training program aligned to the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL)
  • An assigned coach who is a former PGCPS administrator with a solid track record of performance and has a skill set to support the career needs based on their assigned protege’s skill assessment indicators
  • Assignment to a wrap-around leadership development team (LDT) consisting of a Supervising Principal, and Leadership Development Coach
