Margaret Brent Elementary School

Project Overview

The new Margaret Brent Elementary School will serve 850 Pre-K through 5th-grade students in a modern, sustainable learning environment. Once the building opens, it will become the new home of the existing Glenridge Elementary School community, including its students and staff. Located on a 12.93-acre site, the two-story, 101,586-square-foot school features daylight-filled classrooms, collaborative academic neighborhoods, and specialized spaces for art, music, and physical education.

At the heart of the building is a vibrant, double-height commons area used for dining, performances, and community gatherings. The design emphasizes safety, comfort, and student wellness, with features such as secure entryways, natural lighting, and high indoor air quality. Sustainable systems include a geothermal HVAC system, rain gardens, and a highly efficient building envelope. Once solar panels are added, the school is expected to achieve Net Zero Energy performance.

Blueprint Phase II Design

The architects for Phase II created two design options for the eight schools in this phase. Like in Phase I, using prototypes helps speed up construction and lower costs, so students and staff can enjoy updated facilities sooner. Each school will still have space to reflect its unique identity. The presentation below from Perkins Eastman explains the design choices. Take a look at the newest Blueprint School designs!
