Woodridge ES, originally constructed in 1954 in Landover Hills, now identified as Hyattsville, Maryland, has undergone expansions in 1978 and the early 2000s. The school serves students from Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade. The student body reflects a diverse demographic composition: about 90% Hispanic/Latino, about 7% African-American/Black, and about 3% Caucasian, Asian/Pacific Islander, or Native American/American Indian.
Given our diverse community, roughly 75% of our students are Multilingual Learners, and approximately 7% receive Special Education (SPED) services. A significant portion, about 88%, qualify for Free and Reduced Meals (FARMS), indicative of the school's socioeconomic profile where 88% of students fall below the poverty line. Woodridge ES benefits from Title I designation, providing additional federal funding, and operates as a Community School, receiving state support for wrap-around services tailored to meet the needs of students, families, and staff.
