Statement of Attire Standards
The School Board is permitted to adopt dress codes mandating the use of school uniforms. The purpose of the School Uniform Dress Code shall be to provide additional opportunities for increased school safety; to encourage students to experience a greater sense of school identity and belonging; to encourage an improvement in student behavior; and to encourage a high level of program participation.
Dress Code
Surrattsville High School is a uniform school. Strict adherence to the policy will be enforced. If your child is not dressed in accordance with the dress code, you will be notified and your child maybe subject to disciplinary procedures in accordance with the student code of conduct and/or the school-wide discipline plan.
- The Dress Code is effective upon arrival to school until departure.
- Clear backpacks are required for all students in grades 9-12. Anything you carry your school supplies in must be clear. Oversized purses CAN NOT be used as a bookbag.
- Surrattsville HS is a uniform school. Strict adherence to the policy will be enforced.
- All 9th Graders are required to wear a red polo shirt.
- Standard Polo Only: Solid White, Green, or Yellow
- Pants:
- No tight pants
- Solid Tan Khaki only
- Must be cotton twill or cotton blend straight legged, No Cargo
- No jeans or jean style (rivets, prominent stitching, etc.)
- No denim
- No sweatpants (including workout attire)
- Must be worn at waistline
- Prominent designs, emblems, insignias, monograms, and logos are prohibited
- Skirts/Shorts/Skorts:
- Length - No shorter than 2" (inches) above the knee
- Solid Tan Khaki only
- Must be cotton twill or cotton blend, No Cargo
- No jeans or jean style (rivets, prominent stitching, etc.)
- No denim
- No tight skirts or skorts
- Must be worn at waistline
- Can be pleated, flat, or A-line
- Designs emblems, insignias, monograms, and logos are prohibited
- Notes on various clothing items:
- No sweatshirts allowed in the building
- No hoods are to be worn up in the building (covering your head)
- No tape, writing, customized stitching, stickers, or other decorations on clothing
- No slippers (if they look like slippers, they will be considered slippers)
- Hats may not be worn in the building
- Bandanas may not be worn on campus
- Uniforms must be appropriate size and condition
