Welcome Back Letter

Dear Samuel P. Massie Academy Families,

Welcome back, Massie families! I am incredibly excited to begin the 2026–2027 school year with our scholars and families. This year, we will remain focused on providing strong Tier 1 instruction, with a special emphasis on mathematics. Attendance is key—we need every scholar in school, on time, every day!

Our uniform colors will remain the same. School doors will open at 7:15 a.m. for breakfast, and dismissal will begin at 2:15 p.m. We also invite our families to become active volunteers at Massie. Please begin the volunteer clearance process early so you are ready to participate in school activities and events. Volunteer procedure can be found here.

SY 26-27 School Hours & Arrival Procedures:

• Doors Open: 7:15 AM
• Breakfast: Provided daily in the cafeteria
• Scholar Day Begins: 7:30 AM
• Tardy: 7:31 AM – Any student arriving after this time is considered tardy.
• Dismissal Begins: 2:15 PM

Please ensure your child arrives on time each day no later than 7:30 AM. If they are getting breakfast they must be in the cafeteria no later than 7:20 am Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential for academic success.

Uniform Expectations:

All students are required to be in full uniform daily:

• Pre-K: Yellow shirt, Navy pants
• Grades K–5: White or Light Blue shirt, Navy pants
• Grade 6: Navy shirt, Khaki pants
• Grade 7: Red shirt, Khaki pants
• Grade 8: Black shirt, Khaki pants
• Sweatshirts/Sweaters must match the uniform color and be solid in color with no graphics:

Important Dates:

  • Monday, August 24, 2026
  • Open to all scholars Pre K - 8th grade (see link above for list of activities)
  • All scholars may drop off supplies and parents may visit the classroom.
• First Day of School:
  
  • Tuesday, August 25, 2026
    ○ For safety and logistics, parents will not be permitted to walk scholars to their classrooms on the fi rst day of school. Goodbyes will need to be said at the door. We will all gather by grade level in the bus loop (weather permitting). We will have signs and rosters ready to help your child fi nd their teacher.

  • Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 6:00 PM for all grades Pre-K–8.

School Supplies:

School supplies will be provided for all scholars again this year. If you are able to send in extra items, teachers will greatly appreciate them, but this is not required.

Visitor Reminder:

When visiting the school, please always bring a valid ID. This ensures the safety of our students and staff .
