Dear Francis Scott Key ES Families,

As we prepare to embark on a new school year, I want to extend a warm welcome back to all of you.Our team is excited and eager to kick off what promises to be an engaging and enriching year for your children. We’ve been busy preparing our classrooms, updating our curriculum, and planning activities that will inspire and challenge our students.children-in-classroom.jpg

Here are a few important details to keep in mind as we start the year:

  1. First Day of School: The first day of school is August 26, 2024 at 8:30 am/arrival, with dismissal at 2:40pm. We can’t wait to see all of our KEY scholars back in the classroom, ready to dive into new adventures in learning.
  2. “Pass the Phone” with KEY Team Members: We will be hosting a “Pass the Phone” video next week for KEY. Team members. This will be a great opportunity for you and your child to see the teacher, see some FSK classrooms, and meet your leader. Check out https://www.pgcps.org/about-pgcps/back-to-school for added info.
  3. FREE School Supplies: Please feel free to come to our annual backpack giveaway and school materials distribution on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at our school.   4. Parent-Teacher Communication: Open communication between home and school is crucial. We encourage you to stay in touch with your child’s teacher and reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We will also keep you informed through our regular communications on Class Dojo (make sure you are connected), Instagram, KEY newsletters and our website.
  5. Extracurricular Activities: We are excited to offer a range of extracurricular activities this year. Information about clubs, sports, and other programs will be shared soon.   6. Back to School Night (BTSN): We value the support and involvement of our parent community. Please be sure to come out to BTSN Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 6:00pm. Interpreters will be available. 

We are committed to providing a supportive and stimulating environment for your child’s growth and learning. Thank you for entrusting us with this important role in their education. Together, we can make this school year a memorable and successful one. Again, welcome back, and here’s to a fantastic year ahead!
