Who was Catherine T. Reed?

Catherine T. Reed was a native of Prince George's County. She was an innovative educator who headed the new Greenbelt Elementary School when it was operated by the Federal Government. In the 1940s, she became an elementary supervisor for the Board of Education and was responsible for many improvements in the county school system. When she retired, she became a house mother for a sorority at the University of Maryland. This school was being built when Mrs. Reed died, and Prince George's County decided to honor her by naming the school after her.
