Welcome Back, Calverton Families!
Dear Calverton Families,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! We are thrilled to begin another exciting year of learning, growth, and community at Calverton Elementary School, where our theme this year is Believe. Belong. Become. This theme captures our commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child believes in their abilities, feels a strong sense of belonging, and is empowered to become their very best.
Please read below for important information to help you prepare for the start of the school year.
● First day for students: Tuesday, August 26, 2025
● School Hours: 7:30 AM – 1:40 PM (Doors open at 7:05 AM)
To ensure a safe and smooth start to the school day for all students, parents and guardians will not be permitted to enter the building during morning arrival. We kindly ask that you say your goodbyes at the door and promptly step aside to allow students to enter the building safely and efficiently.
We are asking all students to arrive by 7:15 AM to allow adequate time for breakfast and morning routines.
● Breakfast will be served starting at 7:05 AM
● Classroom instruction begins promptly at 7:30 AM
Students who arrive late will miss valuable instructional time, so your cooperation in supporting timely arrival is greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping us start each day focused, safe, and ready to learn!
● PreK & Kindergarten Orientation: Monday, August 25, 2025 at 8:00 AM
● Open House (Grades 1–5): Monday, August 25, 2025 at 9:00 AM
● Parents will have the opportunity to meet teachers, tour classrooms, and ask questions.
Calverton Community Day and Student Orientation Day:
August 25, 2025 Time: 8 am - 12:00 pm
What to expect? Meet your child’s teacher, music, games, community service exhibits and more.
Supply lists for each grade are posted on our website. Students will receive a school supply kit on the first day of school. Teachers may also share classroom-specific needs during the first week. Please make sure your child comes prepared on the first day.
All students registered prior to August 15, 2025 should receive transportation information from the Transportation Office. If you have not received any notification, you can also check ParentVUE to find your bus stop information or access Infofinder (see below).
Students registered after August 15, 2025, will have to wait until their transportation has been assigned. Bus routes and times can be found on the PGCPS website: Infofinder - Access the link below, type in your address and see where the closest comprehensive bus stop is. Look on the left side for the school and the bus route information.
In accordance with state law and PGCPS policy, all students must be up to date on their required immunizations to attend school. Families should provide an updated immunization record to the school nurse before the first day of school.
If your child requires immunizations, you can:
1. Contact your pediatrician
2. Visit the PGCPS Back to School Vaccine Clinics for free clinic locations and to make an appointment.
3. Visit our Community Schools Office at Calverton Elementary. Our team will help you schedule vaccinations through our community healthcare partner, Elaine Ellis.
Students who are not in compliance with vaccination requirements will be excluded from school until documentation is received.
We use several tools to keep families informed:
● Class Dojo for class and school updates
● School Messenger for school-wide announcements
● School Website and PGCPS Calendar
Be sure your contact information is up to date in ParentVue to receive important communications.
This year, we will continue our focus on:
● Supporting our students through a positive school culture and climate
● Improving student attendance
● Strengthening writing instruction across all content areas
● Providing targeted small group instruction
