An electronic Salary Lane Change Request or Credit Count Request form must be submitted at the time the educator qualifies for placement on the new lane on the salary scale. Retroactive wages will be issued effective at the start of the pay period in which the Department of Human Resources received the documents. Please allow up to four weeks upon the submission of your request for the Certification Office to review your documents. The employee will receive an email from the Certification Office indicating the results of the salary review.
All coursework submitted by an educator must be completed at a regionally accredited institution or approved through the Maryland State Department of Education (CPDs). All official transcripts should be emailed directly from the institution to our office at certification.escrip@pgcps.org.
An educator holding a Conditional Certificate is paid on a Bachelor’s salary and is not eligible for a grade salary advancement through educational attainment until a professional certificate is obtained.
A maximum of fifteen (15) hours of undergraduate course credit (taken while employed) with PGCPS and/or state-approved workshop may be counted toward salary advancement. Quarter hours will be converted into semester hours (conversion table).
Courses in religion, religious education, and courses or degrees not recognized by the State of Maryland for certification and related to a school assignment may not be counted for salary purposes.
If the employee is not eligible at the time of the request, a new request MUST be submitted for salary review when additional documents have been submitted.
Unit members holding a conferred doctorate degree shall receive a differential for the period (July 1 - December 31st (100%) or January 1 - June 30 (50%)) in which the degree is held. The annual amount of differential will be $2000 for 11-month employees and $3000 for 12-month employees.
