Recycling Guidebook
Step-by-step guidance and resources for your school recycling program!
Recycling batteries reduces pollution, conserves critical minerals, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and saves landfill space.
All schools and facilities are required to separate and collect small (9-volt or less) batteries from their facility for recycling via the mail-back program.
Acceptable batteries include: AA, AAA, B, C, D, 9-volt, and button cell (flat circular or coin-shaped batteries). Dry cell batteries only, 9-volt or less.
Place batteries in specially marked battery recycling containers with a battery recycling poster placed above.
DO NOT place batteries in facility recycling bins, trashcans, or dumpsters.
For additional information on the small battery recycling program and supplies, review the Small Battery Recycling procedures.
