PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) and Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) opened the Academy of Health Sciences @ Prince George’s Community College, the first Early/Middle College High School in the State of Maryland, in July 2011. The four-year program blends high school and college work through the use of dual enrollment credits. At the completion of the program, students meet all requirements for a high school diploma and an associate degree at no cost to families.

Program Features

  • Students select one of two programs: Health Sciences or Teacher Preparation. Students in the Health Sciences program earn an associate degree in General Studies (with a concentration in the health sciences), and students in the Teacher Preparation program earn an Associate of Arts in Teaching.
  • Students complete a rigorous dual enrollment course sequence beginning in their first year.
  • The program is based entirely on the Prince George’s Community College campus and students experience college life

Choose this program if your child...

  • Is interested in a career in the health sciences or education
  • Is interested in earning 60 college credits (an associate degree) free of charge
