PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Chesapeake Math and IT (CMIT) Academy South Middle/High School is a Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) public charter school in southern Prince George’s County that aims to serve grades 6 through 12 with an academic program focusing on Mathematics and Information Technologies (IT). CMIT South is home to a thriving education community in Prince George’s county, serving all levels of K-12 education, from elementary all the way to high school. The high school prides itself on our STEM focused programs and initiatives, including the Information Technology Early College Program (ITEC), Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Engineering Program, Amazon Scholars Computer Science Program, CIW Web Associate Certification classes, all embedded within our curriculum. In addition to the regular curriculum, our students also have an opportunity to participate in many extracurricular activities - clubs atheltics and STEM opportunities such as Science Olympiad, First Lego and VEX Robotics among others, dedicated to enriching the education of the next generation of STEM students and professionals.

- DUAL ENROLLMENT PARTNERSHIP
CMIT South MS/HS offers the Information Technology Early College (ITEC) Program, a dual enrollment program offered in partnership with Prince George’s Community College. Students in the ITEC program take 17 college courses through PGCC starting in the ninth grade and graduate high school with both a high school diploma and an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Information Technology. PGCPS partners with Prince George’s Community College and Bowie State University for Dual Enrollment credits.
- STEM EXTRACURRICULARS
Science Olympiad, MDOT-TRAC Civil Engineering Bridge Building Team, SeaPerch, First Lego League, Engineering Tomorrow, VEX Robotics, and many other enriching non-STEM clubs are also available.
- TUTORING SERVICES
Free Saturday Academy program offered to support students in English and Math taught by certified teachers on a weekly basis, in addition to the extensive tutoring sessions and office hours offered by our staff.
