Dear educators and families,
Congratulations on the beginning of the 2021/2022 school year at Lake Arbor Elementary! The Largo-Kettering branch of Prince George’s County Memorial Library System is here for Lake Arbor Elementary educators and families, and we look forward to helping you access the many resources, programs and services PGCMLS offers, online and in person.
PGCMLS provides free access to many online resources of special interest to educators and families:
Free online tutoring services and study support from BrainFuse HelpNow.
Research tools like Encyclopedia Britannica, Gale Virtual Reference Library, Gale in Context, Biographies in Context, and Pebble Go.
Learning activities for young children at ABC Mouse.
Book information and “read alike” suggestions at NoveList or NoveList K-8.
Language learning support from Mango Languages and Transparent Languages.
Access to eBooks and eAudio through Overdrive and Libby.
Streaming movies from Kanopy and Hoopla.
To learn more about these and our many other resources, visit our “Kids” page https://ww1.pgcmls.info/649 and look for the “Helpful Online Resources” link lists. If you need any assistance with these or other resources, call Ask a Librarian at (240) 455-5451.
To ensure access to the library’s resources, every student in PGCPS has a LINK library card with the Prince George's County Memorial Library System. LINK cards are based on a student’s ID number, and allow students to access most of our online resources, as well as check out three books at a time. For more information: https://ww1.pgcmls.info/link
If you are a new student / family, there may be a delay in the LINK account being added. You can create a virtual card to access online resources only, or come to the Largo-Kettering library in person so we can make you or your child a library card - learn more at https://ww1.pgcmls.info/
We also offer direct programming to schools and community groups, both online and in-person:
Presentations for classes, PTAs or school staff about our many online resources and services
Tabling at Back to School nights and community-partner events
Presentations at Career Days
Right now we’re not offering school visits / tours of the library, due to social distancing restrictions, but please check back with us in future.
For more information, or to arrange a program, call Ask a Librarian at (240) 455-5451 and ask for the Largo-Kettering Information Department, or email me at ann.mcintire@pgcmls.info . Please provide the name of your school, and give a brief explanation of how we can best assist you.
We look forward to talking with you,
Ann McIntire
