PBIS is a framework for enhancing adoption and implementation of evidence-based interventions to achieve academically behaviorally important outcomes for all students. Implementing PBIS typically involves school teams working with state trainers to build local capacity for establishing effective social culture, with an effective array of behavior supports (Freeman, Simonsen, Sugai, Todd, 2012).
We are now a PBIS school recognized by the state of Maryland. PBIS is an acronym for Positive Behavior Interventions and Support. PBIS is a school-wide behavior management system where staff and students are expected to adhere to certain standards of behavior. We have instituted a school-wide system that promotes rewards. Class Dojo is utilized as a monitoring tool for student behavior. Rewards through PBIS will be given based on the points attained through Class Dojo. These standards have been determined by the PBIS team.
