Our Mission

The Department of Sustainability and Resilience facilitates the journey towards a more sustainable and resilient school district and society, in partnership with local, state, regional, and national stakeholders, as well as public and private entities.

Our Approach

We center equity in cultivating sustainability ethics and understand that achieving sustainability requires a comprehensive and holistic approach. Within the umbrella of sustainability lies multifaceted and interconnected issues of climate change preparedness, natural resources conservation, waste and pollution minimization, clean and renewable energy development, economic prosperity, and healthy communities and ecosystems.

PGCPS Climate Change Action Plan

Approved by the PGCPS Board of Education in April 2022, the PGCPS Climate action plan lays out recommendations for us to reduce our carbon footprint that will lead to healthier buildings and transportation, cleaner air, healthier food, less waste, and operational cost savings to help PGCPS focus its limited resources more equitably and contribute to both better health outcomes and a safer future for our children.
