The month of June has been designated (LGTBQIA+) Pride Month. During the month of June, communities across the United States and the world recognize the role of LGBTQIA+ rights activists and commemorate the Stonewall Riots that occurred in June of 1969, an event widely recognized as the catalyst for the LGBTQIA+ rights movement. The observance affirms the celebration and recognition of the status and rights of LGBTQIA+ students, staff, and families in the Prince George’s County Public School System.
