In an effort to close the achievement gap and expand student opportunities, Pillar 4 strives to offer more support to students who need it the most. This includes new academic programs, social services, and mental and behavioral health services at school and home. Varied community partnerships meet student behavioral health needs and develop models for delivering and expanding behavioral health services and supports to students. Additionally, historically underserved students from every school system will receive supports that aid their progress and academic achievement.
There is increased funding for students with disabilities and English language learners. First, proper identification of students is a priority. Additionally, PGCPS will continue to address any learning loss as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the district aims to increase parent engagement and student attendance rates.

Supplemental Instruction
Primary learners (K-3) who struggle with reading and mathematics skills are provided with one-on-one and small group instruction that offers personalized instruction for increased academic achievement.
