Social Emotional Academic Development(SEAD)Programs (formerly known as Transition Program) are located within comprehensive schools throughout the county and provide a unique educational opportunity for students with social emotional and behavioral challenges that have interfered with learning. Students are provided with a structured, academic and therapeutic environment to facilitate their educational needs and social-emotional development. The SEAD program has a threefold focus of academic achievement, behavior management and social-emotional wellness. Each area is thoroughly addressed through implementation of specially designed instruction, evidenced based strategies and best practices that prepare and support student readiness to transition back into the general education classroom setting when appropriate.
All students enrolled in the program have an Individualized Educational Program (IEP), Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that guide the services and supports necessary to prepare for their success in the least restrictive environment (LRE). Services include specialized academic instruction, counseling support, social skills, social emotional learning, positive behavior management, prevention support and crisis intervention.
