About Us

The Office of Integrity and Compliance (OIC) was established by state law on July 1, 2023 to preserve the local school system’s integrity and reputation. The office is an independent entity within the Prince George's County Public School System (PGCPS) responsible for improving the effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency of PGCPS programs, policies, practices, and operations. It ensures public accountability by examining and investigating the management and affairs of the Board of Education, and other internal oversight components to ensure public funds are utilized for the purpose assigned without any risk of fraud, waste and abuse. Some of the areas the OIC is responsible of making recommendations on, investigating and reporting are the following:

  • Adequacy of Board Policies and Administrative Procedures
  • Effectiveness of Internal Audit controls, procedures, and audit plans
  • Accountability of Internal PGCPS Oversight Components (i.e., Board of Education, Internal Audit, Ethics Panel, Employees Relationship, and Office of Governance, Relations, Compliance, and Procedures)
  • Financial irregularities in the system that indicate fraud, waste and abuse of property and funds
  • Procurement reviews
  • Proper use of assets and funds
  • Budgetary review, analysis, and assessments
  • Compliance risks across PGCPS
  • Non-ethical and non-compliant behavior
