The Maryland State Seal of Biliteracy

The Maryland Seal of Biliteracy is awarded to High School seniors that have demonstrated proficiency in both English and a Second Language.  In the student’s second language, they must reach at least the Intermediate High Level on the ACTFL scale.  Our immersion students have a variety of opportunities to demonstrate this proficiency; whether it be through the STAMP 4S test in 8th grade, the DELF  or DELE B1/B2 exams, or AP exams (in 11th grade). Benefits include potential college credit and pay differentials once employed.

In order to receive the Maryland State Seal of Biliteracy you child will need to:

  • Pass an approved assessment in a language other than English. Immersion Programs offers STAMP4S at 8th grade and DELE, DELF, and AP in high school.
  • Pass the English Language requirement per COMAR 13A.03.07
  • Graduate from a Maryland public high school
