Snow Plow Mural Graphics Design and Art Program

ERHS Snow Plow

The Department of Creative and Performing Arts, Visual Art Office, in partnership with various departments within the Division of Supporting Services, brought back the Snow Plow Design Competition for the 2019-20 school year.

Murals are designed by Computer Graphics students and painted onto snowplow blades by Studio Art students. Designs include logos, instructional programs, sports, teamwork, diversity, or seasonal themes. Paint materials are provided and delivered to each school by the Paint Shop, and schools receive a 10-foot by 3-foot snowplow like this one below.

An adjudication team of administrators and central office staff selects the top three murals, showcases them on the PGCPS website, and promote them to the public and media.

Murals are judged on their originality, positive message, school spirit, imagination, and color coordination on a scale of 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest). PGCPS uses the painted plow blades to remove snow from driveways and parking lots at schools and offices.
