School Calendar & Virtual Education Day Plan

Following a winter storm that caused seven lost instructional days, the Board of Education approved calendar adjustments on February 4 to recover learning time and introduced a Virtual Education Day plan.

If additional severe weather leads to school closures, PGCPS will likely shift to virtual learning to help minimize further extensions to the school year. Families are encouraged to review the latest details and be prepared.

Apply NOW for an Excellence in Education Foundation Scholarship!

The Excellence in Education Foundation for PGCPS, Inc. will award a total of $125,000 in scholarships to 34 deserving graduating seniors from PGCPS.

The completed application and related documents must be submitted to your Professional School Counselor by March 13 and the final application is due by March 23, 2026.

Community Meetings: Attendance Area Adjustments.


The Department of Enrollment Services is hosting community meetings this week to share information on proposed attendance area adjustments affecting the following schools next school year:

  • Beltsville Academy
  • Buck Lodge Middle School
  • Martin L. King Jr. Middle
  • Vansville Elementary

FREE Immunization Clinics

Through a partnership with the Prince George’s County Health Department, PGCPS students can get the immunizations they need for school!

Specialty Program Application Deadlines Extended

Due to the recent weather-related closures the application deadline for Charter Schools and the K-8 Specialty Programs Lottery (Immersion and Montessori) has been extended to February 13. The Talented and Gifted (TAG) Lottery has been extended to March 13.
