Springhill Lake Elementary shines as Maryland’s only 2025 ‘All-Star’ school

This year, 1,160 schools nationwide earned the prestigious designation for their commitment to fostering healthy environments that support the well-being of students, staff, and their communities.
“We are proud to receive this national recognition, which underscores our commitment to creating healthier, more supportive learning environments,” said Dr. Elizabeth Faison, PGCPS Associate Superintendent of Student Services. “Through improved nutrition, expanded physical and health education, and strong wellness policies, we are building schools where every student can thrive.”
Among the honorees, Springhill Lake Elementary School stood out as the only Maryland school to receive the 2025 All-Star Award – one of just 168 schools nationwide to earn this top distinction. All-Star schools meet rigorous criteria across all nine categories of the America’s Healthiest Schools framework, including Nutrition & Food Access, Physical Education & Activity, School Health Services, Staff Well-Being, and Family & Community Engagement.

To mark the achievement, each school will receive a commemorative banner from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation to proudly display on campus.
