Carolyn Kao (pronunciation) joined the ELD Office as a Testing Coach in 2017. Prior to this role, she dedicated 14 years of her career to Bladensburg Elementary School, serving as a 1st-grade teacher, ELD teacher, and Data Coach. Holding an Advanced Professional Certificate with endorsements in ESOL PreK-12 and Elementary Education, Carolyn embarked on a career change to become an educator after previously studying the role of psychological factors in the pathology of coronary artery disease.
The Resident Teacher program allowed her to apply her expertise in a new context, and she has found the experience incredibly rewarding.
