Ayanna McSears presently serves as an English Language Development Instructional Lead Teacher, bringing 24 years of diverse teaching experience to the team. She joined in 2018, following a 17-year tenure as a Special Education Teacher at Magnolia Elementary School and Miner Elementary School in the District of Columbia Public Schools. Ayanna holds an Advance Professional Certificate with endorsements in ESOL Pre-K-12, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, and Elementary Education. Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh and an M.Ed in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Currently, Ayanna is actively pursuing National Board Certification in Special Education alongside completing her Admin 1 certification. As a dedicated educator and parent of PGCPS students, Ayanna's fervor lies in facilitating the success of all students, enabling them to achieve their utmost potential and become valuable contributors to society.
