We know that the ongoing federal government shutdown may bring uncertainty and added stress for many families. During this time, please know that Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) is here to support you.

Here’s what you should know about school meals:

  1. There is currently no disruption in school meal status for students receiving SNAP.
  2.  Students approved for free or reduced-price meals will maintain their current status for the remainder of the school year.
  3. Students attending schools participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch.

Families affected by furloughs or other employment changes are encouraged to apply or reapply for Free and Reduced-Price Meals (FARMS) at any time during the school year! Even if your child attends a CEP school and already receives free meals, submitting a FARMS application may provide additional support and resources for your household.

PGCPS is committed to ensuring every student has access to healthy, nutritious meals throughout the day.

After School Hot Supper Program: New this year, eligible schools with strong after-school participation can now offer hot, balanced meals to better meet students’ nutritional needs. (Schools with a FARMS rate of 50% or higher and at least 75 students enrolled in after-school programs are eligible.)

Free Breakfast at More Schools: Through Maryland Meals for Achievement (MMFA), 23 additional schools now offer free breakfast to all students, bringing the total to 115 schools districtwide.
